CASD -- PSSAs

For the first time the Coatesville Area School District, as a whole, has made AYP (adequate yearly progress) in statewide assessments. See Thursday's Daily Local News to see how individual schools ranked.

Those tests are ridiculous. (Not PSSAs, but quarterly practice exams) I had to take them 4 times last year. They were supposed to be "benchmarks" and mark our progress, but if you score in the highest level the first time...it isnt possible to do better on the next one. Just a plain waste of educational instruction time if you ask me. The kids that did well on them didnt need practice, and the kids that did poorly didnt even try.

I heard they wanted to use them as a placing for your courses for the next year, as in honors, academic, or merit. I think thats a terrible idea. Just because you don't know something on that test, or get something wrong doesn't mean you can't handle the work that will be given to you.
