There are many people from Coatesville that are very succesful, maybe not in sports like RIP but who worked hard and made it. I was raised in Coatesville and graduated from CASH. I grew up in the projects and made the best of it. I had a strong mother who taught me right from wrong. It all starts in the Home. I am not an athlete, but I'm very succesful.I'm proud to say I'm from Coatesville
There have been a lot of special athletes from Coatesville, but none that has gotten in front of the t v cameras and proudly said "I'm from Coatesville Pa". Rip comes home every year and gives back to the community and the kids who look up to him. He is a great role model.
To February 2, 2008 8:42 PM I am sorry that you choose to be so negative in your comments. Many who live in the city of Coatesville are proud of it. If you are not...then leave, there are plenty of other places you could live. There are those in our city who believe in it's spirit and are working to return it. This can and WILL be a place to call home again for everyone.

It's nice to see something positive.
Rip has always said that he is proud to be from Coatesville and Coatesville is proud to have had Rip as a menber of our town.
Rip is the only succesful thing from Coatesville, but if I were him I wouldn't admit I was from there or even proud..

"I'm proud to say I'm from Coatesville"
Sorry to hear that, but very brave.
People never say anything about the Olympic figure Skater from Coatesville. That is something to be proud of too.
